Laser Hair Removal - SKIIN®

Laser Hair Removal Treatments

If you’re fed up with shaving, tweezing, or waxing to remove unwanted hair, laser hair removal is the perfect solution for you.

Laser hair removal works by using a concentrated beam of light – a laser – on the skin which is absorbed by the melanin within the hair follicle. It Is converted into heat energy which destroys the follicle. SKIIN’s Laser machine also contains ultra sound which helps the laser penetrate deeper in the skins tissue targeting the follicle right at its base meaning that results are achieved much faster and ensuring no hair can re grow.

Each pulse of the laser takes a fraction off a second and can treat many hairs at the same time. Small areas such as the upper lip can be treated in less than a minute, and large areas, such as the back or legs may take up to an hour.

SKIIN’s has the highest quality laser to ensue client satisfaction and comfort, crystal freeze technology ensures the skin is kept cool throughout the entire treatment ensuring the treatment is virtually pain-free.

The treatment is only effective on the growing hairs, this is because they are currently attached to the follicle. Some of the hair will be in the resting stage (not attached to the follicle yet still in the skin), this is why a number of treatments are needed over a 4- 6 week basis.

Laser Hair Removal FAQ's & Advice

Clients usually achieve their finished result between 3 - 6 treatments, however facial hair due to hormones usually takes around 6-8 treatments.

No, due to the crystal freeze technology the treatment is virtually painless, the treatment area should be shaved on the morning on the treatment to ensure the laser can penetrate into the follicle and is not absorbed by the hair above the skins surface. If the skin isn’t shaved closely the treatment can not be done.

The Bikini area can be uncomfortable as the hair is more coarse in this area with clients experience a heat sensation which quickly goes. As the hair begins to thin and disappear the treatment becomes more comfortable. Paper underwear is given to all clients for added comfort and privacy.

Depending on the area treatments can take 15 - 60 minutes with the Laser Full Body Package take 1:30 - 2 hours.

Once you have completed your Laser Hair Removal course some hair may eventually grow back. Any regrowth can be managed with a touch-up treatment every 12- 18 months.

No, skin can not be exposed to excess sun throughout your treatments course as you are risk of pigmentation and damaging the skin. Laser hair removal can be started 2 weeks after excessive sun exposure i.e a holiday.

  • Shave on the morning of your appointment and make sure the skin is clean and product free. Please be aware if the treatment area hasn’t been shaved the treatment can not be done.
  • Do not use perfume products, deodorant, creams, oils on the relevant area 24 hours before each treatment.
  • The root of the hair must be present in the follicle for the laser to identify so do not wax, bleach, pluck, or have electrolysis for at least 4 - 6 weeks prior to treatment. Shaving area is preferable in between treatments
  • Avoid tan – both the natural kind and the one that comes out of a bottle. For at least two weeks before your appointment, you will need to avoid self-tanning products and the sun. Having a natural or fake tan can increase the risk of side effects of laser hair removal including skin lightening, blistering and burning. It can also impact on the overall result of the procedure.
  • For facial Treatments avoid SPF the day before and on the day of your treatment as this can limit the laser entering the skin and make your treatment less effective.
  • Wear loose-fitting clothes on the day to avoid irritation to your skin.
  • A Patch test is permitted 48 hours before your treatment, for darker skin tones please leave 2 weeks in between your patch test and treatment.  Due to insurance and safety precautions treatment can not be done if a patch test has not been done.

Laser hair removal Prices – A patch test is required 48 hours prior to an appointment, for asian and mixed race clients please allow 2 weeks prior to appointment as the skin holds more pigment and can be susceptible to pigmentation.
